NTT Play-in Tournament
The final at-large bid to the NTT will be filled by the winner of a play-in tournament. The team that would have otherwise qualified for that final spot will get a free bid to the play-in tourney. Anyone else wanting to compete may qualify for the play-in tourney for a fee of 200 credits ($2.00).
This will provide a nice opportunity for teams that had some struggles early but worked out their problems late in the season and are playing good ball come tourney time. The tourney will be standard, single-elimination format. In the event that there are not 2,4,8,16,32,64, or 128 teams entered (numbers that make for a "clean" bracket structure, some number of teams will need to be given first-round byes so that rounds 2+ are on such a "clean" schedule. (For example, if 13 teams elect to play, 3 will be given 1st-round byes. The remaining 10 teams will produce 5 1st-round winners, which will combine with the 3 bye teams to yield 8 teams in the 2nd round. The byes and matchups will be randomly assigned.
Anyone otherwise qualifying for the NTT will be ineligible for the play-in. The deadline for election and fee payment is 6pm Friday, the day of game #18 (the conference tourney final day). You will not be charged 200 credits if you elect to play in the play-in, but otherwise qualify for the NTT.
The play-in will not produce any serious injuries. Your game 18 lineup and settings will be used for the play-in tourney.
