State of the Game

September 19, 2007

Today marks the seven month anniversary of my managing the College Basketball game. There have been several changes over the seven months and thankfully, no data disasters (knocks on wood).

To review the modifications to date:

Ø      Consistently timed SIMs, 90% (or greater) occurring at 3:00 PM ET with all data available by 6:00 PM ET.

Ø      Improved communication, specifically as it pertains to the processing and posting of new recruits.

Ø      Each box score for a season is now available directly from your season schedule. Further, the box scores are available for the entire season.

Ø      Each box score’s PBP is also available directly from the schedule page.

Ø      Champions page was modified to include the runner up, box score and PBP.

Ø      Removal of individual coach variances as they pertain to viewing recruits.

Ø      Addition of appropriate code to remove the predictability of recruits with certain attributes.

Ø      We won the MPOGD.com Game of the Month vote for April, 2007.

Ø      Removal of and subsequently more timely use of the Big Red Box.

Ø      Instructions deadline posted on main page. Included is a count-up of time taken to process games and when the upload has begun.

Ø      Employment of moderators on each league’s MB. This group has been invaluable in providing direct feedback about other issues as well.

Ø      Removal of ability to sign-up on MB which has eliminated spam posts completely.

I have been unable to spend as much time on development as I would have liked, but I continue to collect information and make plans for some changes. In fact, I have a couple folks assisting with this effort.

Hopefully, you have all continued to enjoy this great game and community as much as I have enjoyed managing it. Please feel free to continue to submit ideas on the Game Suggestions board. I do hope to get back into the review mode and begin to post ideas of when other items will be available.

Yes … the Archives is #1 on my list.

Blessings and thanks to all,
Todd/arborwolf
